Industry experts and business professionals commissioned by the Interpacific Group of Switzerland gather in Pyongyang to sign the Joint Venture Contract in June.

2003 - 2004
Construction of the plant.
The inauguration ceremony takes place on June 9, 2004.
Pyongsu will produce its first batch of PyongsuSpirin 3 months later, in September.
2005 – 2006
Dr. Eckhard Hoffmann, industry specialist, former CEO with Aventis, is appointed Managing Director of Pyongsu.
Pyongsu diversifies its products and slowly asserts its position as a key player in the pharma landscape of Korea.
The first Pyongsu pharmacy opens in April 2006.
2007 – 2008
Pyongsu obtains GMP certification by the Quality Certification Centre of the DPRK shortly after being visited by an expert commissioned by WHO, in April 2007.
Felix Abt, formerly with Roche, becomes Managing Director.
Declared compliant with International GMP guildelines, Pyongsu supplies essential drugs to WHO and the IFRC as of 2008.
Pyongsu counts 3 pharmacies at the end of 2008.
2009 – 2010
New Managing Director Rémy Lardinois is appointed in April 2009.
Pyongsu continues to produce for the IFRC while expanding its pharmacy chain to 7 outlets by the end of 2010.
Pyongsu purchases a fully automatic capsule filling machine and expands its portfolio to 23 formulations.
In 2010, Pyongsu sends dividends to its shareholders for the first time.
2011
Jan 2011: Pyongsu wins a bid to produce essential drugs for the Ministry of Public Health.

Feb 2011: Pyongsu wins a bid for 4 orders with the International Federation of the Red Cross resulting in the creation of a framework agreement valid until March 2012. Four new products are added to the existing kit.

May 2011: Independent Singapore laboratory TÜV SÜD PSB Pte Ltd contracted by the IFRC headquarters in Geneva certifies that all essential drugsproduced by Pyongsu for the Red Cross are in accordance with the relevant pharmacopoeia and up to international standards
